Art as a light source
Some rooms are just cold. North-facing, grey walls, no direct sun at any point in the day. You can add lamps and a rug and it still reads as a cool room, because the light itself is cool.
A genuinely warm image is the cheapest correction available. This one is almost entirely orange — the coast, the haze, the water all running the same temperature — so it behaves less like a picture on the wall and more like a warm surface in the room.
It isn't subtle, and that's the job. A pale, tasteful warm piece won't move a cold room; this one does.
Where it goes
Where it struggles: a room that's already terracotta, oak and brass. Warm on warm goes muddy. That room wants Turquoise Solitude or Cliffside Blue.
Size and frame
Vertical. 32 × 40″ for a bedroom; 40 × 50″ or 48 × 60″ if it's meant to change the temperature of a whole room, which is the point of buying it at all.
Oak, or nothing. Oak continues the warmth into the frame; unframed lets the colour run to the wall. Dark oak works in a room with walnut. Avoid black — a hard dark border cools the whole thing down and undoes the reason you bought it.

Is it too orange?
It's the most saturated warm piece we make. In a neutral room that's the reason to buy it. In a room that already has strong colour, size down or choose something quieter.
Will it fade in sunlight?
It's not going in direct sun — and a north-facing wall is where it belongs anyway. Keep any print out of hard afternoon light regardless of subject.
